Kearny Wrestling Takedown Club
A Message From The Takedown Club
      written by Bob McDonnell

Wrestling is a sport that takes extreme dedication with a willingness to push ones body and mind to the limit and beyond. The Kearny Takedown Club was formed to develop SPORTSMANSHIP, and to learn the proper techniques of wrestling.

The Takedown Club is composed of parents, community leaders, former wrestlers, and a dedicated staff of vounteer coaches. The Club strives to provide a fun, safe enviroment for wrestlers to learn and craft their sport. The Club has sponsored free wrestling clinics, which offered appearances by college and national team wrestlers. We also provide entrance to local, state, and national tournaments for recreatrion wrestlers. The Club not only supports the wrestlers in sport related areas, but also provides tutors to assist them with their education.

The Kearny Wrestling Holiday Tournament is being co-sponsored by West Hudson Hospital. The site of the tournament is Kearny High School, Saturday Dec. 21, 2002 starting at 9:30 a.m. There will be 18 Varsity High School teams from around the State participating in the grappling event. The tournament is in its 29th year thanks to the continuing support of the Kearny community and the VOLUNTEER workers.

Good luck to all the wrestlers. Have a great season!
